The World Water Day Celebration And Water Tanks: Preserving Water

The average American neither sees nor appreciates water tanks primarily because there is sufficient supply of water in developed countries. Water is the most important natural resource, yet it is taken for granted by people. Water tanks are most needed by third world countries for them to be able to store water for everyday use.

It is for this reason that ceremonies such as the World Water Day are observed every year. The 22nd of March marks the day of celebration of World Water Day or World Day for Water as made by the United Nations General Assembly. In the year 1993, this was established.

This is the day that requires people to not use their water taps so that our life source, water, can be preserved. For all countries to get involved, UN thinks of a certain theme each event. Water and the matters concerning our world can be a topic in a certain year.

For every country, the UN teams up with non-government groups. The work of these organizations is to gain the attention of the government and other people so that they are able to send forth their message about clean water and the preservation of aquatic life. Since 1997, the World Water Council has been able to generate annual participation in a special discussion group called the World Water Forum.

In the panel, the important thing that they discussed is about those billions of people in the globe that have yet to experience clean and safe water. This is a sad realization, especially for the fact that water is taken for granted in wealthy nations. What the Council did was to have an annual report about the status of water in various parts of the world.

Back in 2001 the theme was “Water for Health”, then in 2002 it became “Water for Development”, when 2003 came it was now “Water for Future” and then there where different themes each year until the latest one in 2011, which was “Water for Cities: Responding to the Urban Challenge”. Much thought and consideration were clearly put into these socially relevant themes. From them, important messages and reports were circulated among governments and different agencies such as the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO), and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), among many others.

We can commend the water tank industry for its modesty as well as its greatness. The purpose of water tanks is to ensure a safe supply of water. Irrigation, farming and agriculture are some of the many beneficiaries and users of water tanks.

Man has learned to create water tanks ever since civilization began. Houses that were built before were close to water like rivers. As time went by, men needed to find a place in the land and to be able to have a sufficient supply of water, they built water tanks and earthen tanks.

Nowadays, a lot of industries in the United States still use water tanks. The elevated water storage facilities are the most common ones. The elevated water tank exerts pressure that can help water travel to various areas and houses.

Water tanks can be used for manufacturing purposes. Water tanks are mostly used for agriculture and farming purposes. The water tank business does not only produce water tanks: they also support the preservation of the natural resource and the saving of our planet.
